    a) Fabric of India collection shows many fantastic fabrics, and it also displays the values of brand as the brand is driven by the values of art and craft. Design is a timeless work that can be passed down from generation to generation. This concept not only continues the traditional craftsmanship, but also supports the sustainable development.
    b) Personally, 50 Knotty Ways to Tie a Scarf and Pocket Square is very practical and attractive. I would love to own a scarf to decorate myself with the scarves wearing tips. Also, these tips bring new ideas to sustainability as we don’t actually need to buy more clothes and a scarf can make you look different and fashion.
    c) I really like the series of Blue Fashion Scarf Collection. This design guides me into a magical ocean world and the happiness in those underwater creatures can relieve my nervous and offer me a good mood. Moreover, the Seacell TM used in this series is a very good choice. The product is made of fibre which is carbon neutral, biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

What I like about the website is how you illustrate the story of each scarfs creation within you scarf and pocket square collection, from research to drawings, finalising with the final product. This in turns creates a more personal customer appeal to the purchase and a conversation started amongst their friends of its origin.

How you fuse modern styling with culture and history to make a long-lasting piece of art not a throwaway piece of fashion

how you create ageless pieces for all sexes and ages.

Why House of Gharats? 3 things on the website that mean something to me:

The designer’s work inspires and is somewhat similar to what I do. Being an Indian, I feel proud to see a marriage between British tailoring, Italian craftsmanship, and Indian artisanship. I have been born an brought up in Delhi, and the collection takes me back to my roots and provides a homely feeling. The prints on the scarves bring with them a certain nostalgia that is associated with rural India and the various prints that vary from region to region having their own identity.

The conscious efforts in bringing together sustainability and style are breathtaking to look at and on top of it the opportunities provided to artists so as to bring back economic self-reliance are commendable.

The fabric of India collection intrigues me a lot because it shows the harmony between ethnic work and modern fashion. It brings together multiple traditions, beliefs, societies together and tells a beautiful story.

When I came across the House of Gharats internship that was available, I spent quite some time going through the website to get a better understanding of what the brand was about and what was important to Neishaa as a designer. I love that she has taken aspects of life that are important to her and the world around us, and incorporated that into the design work. Firstly, I loved learning about the Royal Hoof! Queen’s Horses collection. I too have always been passionate about learning about Monarchies, so for those that do not know a lot about the Queen’s love for horses and British Monarch history, it gives consumers an insight to something that I believe Neishaa is passionate about and wants others to appreciate as well through her work. Another thing on the website that has stood out to me as an intern is the internships page, written and voiced by the previous interns. I read Nina’s last and it immediately stood out to me. It was so relatable and real, and I really love that Neishaa makes her interns feel like they are important and have a voice, especially as young women.
Lastly, the final thing that has meant something to me is the fact that Neishaa has very clearly tried to show her consumers the importance of sustainability and creating fashion that is good for the Earth. I believe sustainability is at the forefront of fashion and with the way things are moving when it comes to climate change & how fashion affects the Earth.

While looking through the website I keep noticing the bright colors and the traditional patterns on the scarves. One reason why House of Gharats is the heritage driven, compassionate designs that aim to shape a different future for fashion through the power of design. Another reason is the ‘Fifty Knotty Ways to Wear a Scarf’. With this article the House of Gharats shows that an item as simple as a scarf can carry huge meanings through the way it is worn. It shows a respect and support to identification and personalization. The third reason is the quote ‘House Of Gharats is a design house creating conscious luxury for artful dressing and living.’ Sustainability and longevity of usability in items are a must for the future of fashion. In my opinion being conscious of our social and physical environment and using design to make an impact is very valuable.

After looking at the House of Gharats website, I can see more than 3 important points to follow this brand. It is about having respect for the tradition of artistic life, respect for the country of origin and the design. We also have to mention the collection made with ecological material.

When exploring the site, the first thing that immediately touched me was the passion for empowering women and girls and breaking the cycle of poverty. In today’s society the importance of empowering each other can be forgotten, it’s refreshing to see a brand express this so clearly throughout their platform.

The artistry and craftmanship that goes into the prints is undeniable, just looking at images I can see the level of detail and intricacy on the designs. As a recently graduated fashion student who studied print design, I was always nervous to try out very detailed patterns and drawings however, these prints inspire and challenge me to push myself for a higher level of detail and accuracy.

Looking at quotes from customers around the world inspires me as a designer, seeing how a scarf can be sent across the world and create such a joyful experience for the customer is inspiring, House of Gharats is sharing their story worldwide.

1.) The first key element of this website I noticed was brand transparency. To me, this is a key quality, particularly when shopping sustainably. This is something you NEVER see with fast fashion, high street brands.

2.)The ‘learn more about these pieces’ was a page that really stuck out to me, I think similarly to my first point sustainable shoppers want to know how these garments are sourced and where they are sourced. Learning more about the product made me even more invested in the brand’s success. Another page that helps achieve this is the ‘Meet Neishaa Gharat’ page. It’s really comforting to know the people behind the brand.

    3) The final thing I would like to address is the beautiful culture displayed through this brand. You powerfully portray your culture through your garments and your website, this is really beautiful to see.

The use of storytelling in each collection is something that I am drawn to. Seeing a thoughtfully designed product surrounded by its inspiration creates a sense of authenticity and immersion. The small details in each design draw the eye into the story, making the products a joy to view and learn about.
The collections encompass so many different cultures and influences. When looking at each individual collection, you can see influences and details that come together to tell a story about culture and design influence. There is such a vast difference in the influences of each collection, there is something that appeals to everyone and I am drawn to collections that bring people together through common interest.
The styling of products is very diverse. Scarves are styled differently in a variety of settings and on different models. It shows the possibilities of how scarves can be worn and styled from in the hair to over the shoulders. The photography of the products is something that I am drawn to, as a textile designer I know it is difficult to show the texture and drape of products through photography, and I am drawn to the way the fabric properties come across on the website.

    1. I like that the website implements a bright and colourful design, reflecting the international nature of the productional process. These colours reflect the bright and rich culture of India, coupled with the couture nature of the Italian craftsmanship.

    2. The first image that you come across when entering the site is a scarf in front of the sea coupled with a caption reflecting the tone of the company. I like that the website provides a direct and immediate reflection of the company’s values and goals. The focus on ethics and sustainability as a major theme throughout your company ethos and brand design is something I find highly attractive and relevant to fashion practices today.

    3. The page that outlines the numerous different ways a scarf can be tied is one that I find very unique and exciting. It reflects the brand’s focus on sustainability through its explanation of the versatility of your product, while showcasing the product and its stylish features.

Looking at these scarves, the vibrancy and tender attention to detail really jump out at me, from the patterns and the amazing cultural backstories to the colors. The quality of the cloth really speaks through the images.Knowing that its ethically sourced adds that insight to the magic that occurs behind the scenes in order to produce such works of art. It reminds me of whenI studied Product Design for two years during my A Levels. During this time I experimented with different materials and sublimation techniques. Becoming a part of such an exciting production process would be a truly amazing opportunity.

    1) The constant reminder of sustainable fashion and conscious consumerism.
    2) The bright colors and patterns that bring so much personality and individuality to both the scarves and the website.
    3) The blog that covers a wide range of topics all related to House of Gharats and beyond! I see this blog as a great resource and embodiment of the brand.

    • House of Gharats create beautiful designs that bridge the gap between art and fashion, something I also explore within my own creative practice.
    • Sustainable and ethical values are at the heart of everything you do. The ‘A Sea Change’ campaign and collection is genius! Your values are not only reflected onto the artistic design of the silk scarfs, but in the very fabric you use.
    • You collaborate with charities to extend your core beliefs beyond the boundaries of conventional fashion. I particularly enjoyed your work for the ‘Sheep Art Trail’, whereby you explore sculpture as a medium to engage with the Suffolk community.
