It’s clear to see that House of Gharats is a brand with consciousness, the values are conveyed throughout the website.
– The brands show, its commitments, political and social bias but mostly interest for people. In 2020 it might seem obvious that brands work this way but it doesn’t so it’s really refreshing to see a luxury brand working this way. We are in an era of overconsumption in which brands are pushing to buy. But this brand want more thoughtful and sustainable purchases .
– I really admire House of Gharat’s desire to bond generation by a same style and fashion by mixing modernity and traditionals aspects.
– As an advertising student, I like how this brand is communicating with consumers. Giving fashion advise to be more themself by using the product in a way that matches them.

I applied for an internship at House of Gharats, firstly, because of the way you approach sustainability. In this important time in fashion it is refreshing to see a company truly put the environment first. I appreciate not only the approach to slow fashion but to timeless pieces that are designed with such power and thought and not fully driven by quick advertising and profit.
Secondly, the experience the website offers. I have never felt so in touch with a brand after just visiting their website. From the 50 ways to tie a scarf, to the blog posts and the in depth descriptions about the brand and what it stands for. The bold and colourful presentation really draws you in and creates loyal and loving customers who will follow this brand throughout its whole journey.
Finally, it has to be the woman-led craftsmanship. From a textile designers point of view, it is clear just how much hard work is put into every design created at House of Gharats. There is never one detail missed within your company, the beauty of every scarf speaks for itself. The luxurious pieces made will be gifted down generations an this is what fashion is about.

My first reason for choosing to apply to House of Gharats is my admiration for its strong moral standpoint on sustainability. I am a keen environmentalist and would love to be involved with an organisation that is promoting positive change. My love of fashion suffered when I learned of some of the consequences of the industry, so it brings me great hope and inspiration to find companies dedicated to creating positive impact and leading the sustainable fashion movement forwards.
Secondly, I am intrigued by the interweaving of culture/tradition and function/progression present within House of Gharats designs. Products are visually stunning, and something very new to see but still manage to capture a beautiful history of indian design and craft.
Finally, an internship with House of Gharats would be an incredible opportunity to develop my professional skills and enhance my knowledge and network in a career I hope to pursue. It would give me a chance to work hard and make real contribution and achievements.

I think the designs are very conversational and are very illustrative – which I am very fond of as they retain a very traditional style yet still look very contemporary with the use of colour, proportion and scale.
The way the brand puts sustainability as its top priority also captivates me, as browsing through the website, because it shows how the brand pays attention to detail to climate change and manages to find ways to tackle these problems.
Another point that means something to me is the way that the collection includes culture, tradition and a story that is translated in the designs – and that shows how inclusive the brand is and that is what makes each collection more meaningful.

Why House of Gharats, point 3 things on the website that mean something to you?
House of Gharats confidently displays what they do, their work and their style in an artistic way which reinforces the brands values, tradition and heritage.
The way in which they create photographs and visuals to emphasise the connection that the brand has with nature and the world in general is uniquely put together, and as a media and communications student who is currently opening my mind to visual creation opportunities, these images have widely developed my imagination and has given me ideas that I could offer to the brand or use as a bases for my own ideas.
Secondly, I greatly connected with the blog section on the website and absolutely loved the way House of Gharats has creatively engage their audience with topics and ideas that we wouldn’t expect. For example, the “10 knotty ways for styling a neck scarf” and the blog about sea change in material culture gives us an insight into what goes on behind the scenes and possibly the plans that the brand has for the future for us to look out for.
In addition, I admire the way that the attention to detail that has been shown throughout the website, creatively exhibiting the work that the brand has done and the collaborations that House of Gharats has done. It shows me that the company is more than just a scarf business and there is a lot more for us to look out for.

Why House of Gharats, point 3 things on the website that mean something to you ?
The House of Gharats outlines the importance of culture and fashion in a humble, inviting manner.
The “Earth Collection” inspired by the importance of our connection to earth, is just that. i feel compelled to be connected from seeing the thought behind the designs in the collection. The earthy tones, yet paisley prints give a strong reminder of the important part we all play in protecting our progressively declining environment. With the focus on sustainability being in the spotlight more than ever, House of Gharats different creative, and inspiring message behind the designs connect to an audience with an artistic approach perfectly.
As the world is changing, I strongly admire House of Gharats approach to the detail. From the storytelling behind the designs to the blogs about how we can make a change as consumers just ‘shopping’. “We are experiencing a sea change in material culture. Can our fashion and lifestyle choices, save the ocean?” Often online shopping will not be thought about again once the item has been put into the cart, however, with House of Gharats branding to offer reading and purchasing material, conscious decisions when purchasing then and going forward are made. The attention to every detail in designing the brand to leave a lasting impression entails this outcome for every customer.
Lastly, as we are moving forward in the fashion industry, styles will consistently change. Yet, with every change different cultures will stay consistent to themselves. With this in mind, House of Gharats evidently understands this by creating timeless, cultural pieces that will be suited to every different individual. Furthermore, including global movements also gives consumers the opportunity to add relevance and on trend pieces to their already cultured wardrobe.

Three things that mean something to me, are:
– first of all, your innovative products, because of the ability they show to keep together tradition, sustainability and classy, always with great coherence.
– “Design is a superpower” is the thing I can relate the most to my personal experience. For each of the assignments I did while studying at university in Italy I had to face and solve many design related issues. At first sight it can seem that Design has to solve all the problems, but actually Design is just an attitude. In my opinion House of Gharats has this attitude, it can really deal with situations at the right time. And this is certainly a sort of superpower.
– Last but not least, your ability to bind different cultures, without being scared of diversity.
I really appreciate the way House of Gharats, uses diversity as a strength of the brand, and it is clear that it works.

• Because I want to learn about the world of digital printing.
• I really like the graphic work I’ve seen from the company—scarf design has always interested me, and I’m impressed by the ways your house looks for inspiration.
• I’m very interested in the company’s mission, making handkerchiefs and beyond, to create meaning and to work with intention.

1. ‘We bring together style, substance and sustainability.’
This really stood out to me on your website. Being a modern brand that creates arty and fun designs for people to cherish, that are timeless rather than following the latest trends is really important to me. I believe that in today’s environmental situation and knowing how much the fashion and textile industry contributes to that, any item made to be sold should be made with longevity and sustainability in mind.
2. The second thing that stood out to me is that you are a commonwealth fashion council member and your Blue Fashion X Commonwealth Fashion Council scarf collaboration.
The designs are beautiful and in the interview you explain why you did it and that you used Seacell fabric to make it which I really love. You also say that being a designer is like having a super power and this scarf sends the message of hope that change can happen by all coming together and working together. This is what I want to achieve myself as a designer, creating while making a difference in the world.
3. The third thing is how all of your scarves are meaningful pieces of art. You can see how much has gone into the thought and design process, including your Indian heritage within lots of the designs too. From your Garaj The Royal Elepant to Song Of The Flute I love how you combine different elements together with bold colours and evoke a feeling of nostalgia. Each one is so different from the other making them original pieces of art.

Why House of Gharats, point 3 things on the website that mean something to you?
The Blue Fashion sustainable scarf collection deals with the issue of sustainability and conscious design which is on the forefront of current affairs and something which I readily believe should be adopted by more fashion designers.
The source of inspiration stemming from cultural background and tradition is important and to appreciate these factors and still create modern and stylish pieces of art is inspiring.
The culture of craft is something which interests me greatly using materials and physically making a product instead of everything being digitalised means experimentation and more creative ideas can be composed.

A phrase that impact my was “chaining the world one scarf at the time “.
