Description
This is India! is a hand painted artwork, reinterpreted as a beautiful scarf made in Italy. Mark Twain went round-the-world for a year and spent two months in India. He is known for distilling the most complex things into one cynical, sceptical, wry distillation but for the array of amazing contrasts that is India, all he could do was surrender to a giant exclamation mark saying “This is India!”
This design is available in both large and small sizes that make beautiful scarves, neckerchiefs and pocket squares. You may also love to frame them as an artwork that adorns your walls.
House of Gharats Limited Edition Silk Scarf Collection is the perfect opportunity to indulge in wearing and gifting a piece of art. This makes for a Perfect ‘His & Her’ gift set. The collection is a custom illustrated artwork made with the finest silk twill in Italy.

The artwork of this townscape reflects on the colourful chaos of small towns in India – the narrow lanes, the derelict shops, the hanging wires from the electric poles and the maddening chaos. It leads ones imagination to the rumble of motorbikes, the honk-honk-honk of horns, the crazy jingle of an ice-cream cart, the squeak of brakes, the earth-shaking roar of dilapidated trucks, the jaunty sound of Bollywood songs pulsating from shops, the chatter and laughter of locals, the clang and sizzle of pots and pans, the eager calls of rickshaw – wallas and more…
