Behind the Scenes of The Neishaa Gharat for Oxfam Collection

Hands-on and handled with care, the process behind the Neishaa Gharat for Oxfam Collection was truly a labour of love. From picking out pieces and creating ensembles to snapping them in a photo shoot and sending them down the runway, the planning and preparation of the collection proved to be just as rewarding as the final presentation itself.

Off the Rack

Neishaa first selected previously-loved pieces at Oxfam shops and Oxfam recycling centres, paying particular attention to clothing and accessories that timelessly transcend trends. Emphasising the importance of the process, Neishaa’s Oxfam adventures were captured by the BBC Asian Network, who followed her to a shop in Wembley to broadcast the experience on their radio station.

Photo Op

Once the looks were pieced together, the special collection was photographed for the Oxfam online shop, where the Oxfam Mela collection was then sold to fundraise. Carried out by Neishaa and a resourceful team of volunteers, the photo series presented thirty looks comprised entirely of clothing and accessories found at Oxfam, visually illustrating the countless possibilities of pre-owned pieces.

With a fashion-forward approach, the Neishaa Gharat for Oxfam Collection presented a new and unique way to wear your heart on your sleeve.
