An Artful Life
House Of Gharats is a design house creating conscious luxury for artful dressing and living. The old and new play off one another in perfect harmony. There is an undeniable appreciation for tradition and the antiquated, but also so much creative progression – and a love for beauty.
Founders
Neishaa & Pretam Gharat, founders of House of Gharats, endeavour to bring together various cultures, redefine cultural relationships, and create new style synergies through art and fashion. Living amidst London’s international hybrid city of cultures and its influential past results in objects that are profoundly modern, distinctively stylish, yet inherently classic.
Culture Of Craft
We are passionate about heritage arts and crafts, engaging with the makers and the process. Therefore our designs draw on the essence of tradition, cultural juxtapositions, stories, materials and function. In addition, heritage crafts, unconventional materials, sculptural tailoring, bold colours, fanciful details and artful prints speak our story. Our commitment is to make responsibly through sustainable practices.
“The influence of our native country, which can be felt through our collections, is grounded in tradition and timeless eccentricities, yet fearlessly modern.”
– NEISHAA GHARAT
“There is no beauty in the finest cloth if it makes hunger and unhappiness.”
– MAHATMA GANDHI
Loved and Enduring
The objects that we choose to surround ourselves with, tend to be those with the strongest and deepest connections to our past, present, and future. In addition, they may embody fond memories or represent special people, but cherished things also reveal what we value—beauty, utility, knowledge, craft—and when assembled can function as a portrait in time.
Design
Design is one of the most powerful forces in our lives.
It is a superpower and with it, we can change the world.
Therefore, we believe that social and environmental issues go hand in hand and through exploring the connection between these issues we may find innovative design solutions to sustainability.

The future of fashion is non-disposable and circular. Items will no longer be discarded and land fill will no longer be an option. The ‘slow fashion movement’ will gain recognition. We will no longer be searching for temporary solutions.

The future of fashion is knowledge, culture, anticipation and a vision that cannot be materialised, it is really just a balance between art, commerce and engaging in way more sustainable practices.
The future if retail is the integration of technologies like augmented and virtual reality.
Reinventing the selling process which will be as important as the poduct itself.
Style from my point of view is an opportunity to embrance your individuality. It is a reflection of your unique complexity as a human being.

The future of fashion is… sustainable, ethical garments created by designers who care. For fashion items to be kept and handed down, to be repaired or re-dyed, composted or up cycled into something new.
The future of retail is… Trying to reduce consumerism, instead selling high quality meaningful goods, that could last a lifetime.
Style from my point of view means… Allowing your exterior to express your interior self. To be as wild as you like, to not care what others think, to feel like your true self and flourish.

Complete the sentence “ The future of fashion is… going to need to become more sustainable in order to be a true representation of the world around us. Fashion takes inspiration from all over the world, including emotional influences, and it needs to start reflecting this in the industry.
Complete the sentence “ The future of retail is… uncertain. People are beginning to buy apparel, accessories, footwear (etc) that has meaning as it’s something real, their own and has a story. This gives a customer ***
Complete the sentence “ Style from my point of view means… to be ever-evolving. Some people’s style is to reflect their mood for that day. Some people like to be comfortable in what they wear but everyone picks up ways to enhance or push their style constantly, even if they don’t realise it’s happening. We’re influenced by the world around us and this feeds into our sense of style.

1) The future of fashion is practical, sustainable, and becomes more personality, which it will replace the fast fashion. Since the requirements of the product design and quality from the customers have been raising recently, this will lead to more developed opportunities for the designer of niche and luxury brands. The fashion industry will intend to use new and environmental- friendly materials with good quality.
2) The future of retail is more concerned the customer experience. Not just the customer service, but also the comfort and convenience while shopping. The future digitalization makes the online shopping possible to be immersive, and the customers will experience the fun of shopping in physical stores without going out.
3) From my perspective, style means a personal relationship in life and no following the trend blindly. It is also a part of expressing yourself, such as the food you eat, the city you live in, and the books you have read. It is a relationship with yourself, and this relationship will change according to your age and experiences.

The future of fashion is sustainability, eco-friendly. The customer is becoming more and more aware of our ever changing environment and wants to contribute in some way or the other to help better the current scenarios. People prefer to use products that are sustainable as well as have a story, a reason. For eg: ZARA has developed a new sustainable collection, Join Life, to strengthen its sustainability commitments. The new contemporary clothing line is made with forest-friendly and animal-friendly materials, such as organic cotton, recycled wool, and Tencel.
The future of retail is online. Everyone in today’s time including the current pandemic situation prefers to shop online within the comfort of their home or on their way to work etc. In my personal opinion as well, I would rather shop online and have multiple options just at the click of a button. The main focus of retail is to provide customers with an amazing experience so that they’d want to buy a product and I believe online shopping provides that.
Style from my point of view means comfort. I am a photographer, and I need to be always comfortable in my clothes when I shoot, also in my personal life as well I wear whatever makes me comfortable, gives me confidence, and is not something that I need to always be aware of if I have worn it. My personal style gives me confidence and makes me feel comfortable in my own skin. Whether what I shop is in trend or not it doesn’t matter. The same goes for ethnic wear. I am an Indian and wearing kurtas gives me comfort and helps me connect to my ethnicity as well.

The future of fashion is customization and identification. People are constantly looking for objects they can identify themselves with and fashion is the first medium they use to convey who they are. Through customization methods, whether it be DIY or mass-customization, the user gets to acquire items that best represent themselves.
The future of retail is all about creating the best shopping experience through interior design of stores and a strong aesthetic understanding. In my opinion success in retail these days come from a consistent aesthetic through the products to the website and the store interiors. Brands are creating their own aesthetics to appeal to their customers.
Style from my point of view means being able to select items that would represent you best and put them together in a way that could convey your taste. For me taste is the biggest indicator of someone’s personality, because it is something that comes from tradition, heritage, and upbringing. It is also something that could be developed and something you can train your eye to perceive.

The future of fashion is inclusive, accepting and more experimental than ever before. When looking to the future we should acknowledge our heritage, identity and inner creativity to create a future filled of experimental fashion and artistry.
The future of retail is overcoming current issues and creating a safe space for consumers to enjoy and experiment with their clothing. Digital advances also enhance consumer experience and create an accessible industry
Style from my point of view is an expression of identity, heritage and creativity. It allows us to express ourselves through the clothes we wear, and I believe that as the world becomes more excepting and inclusive, we will start to see an even bigger variety of personalities and creativity through the use of clothing, accessories and voice.
Rachel Strachan
The future of fashion is sustainability, slowing down the fashion movement to appreciate what we have and slow our impact on the planet.
The future of retail is purpose, buying with purpose and selling with purpose. Not just selling with the intention of making sales, but with the intention of doing good.
Style from my point of view is individuality, recognising your own taste and being true to that.
Libby Cooper
The future of fashion is originality. In my opinion, people within fashion are getting more and more daring with the pieces they create. As they should! who wants to look like a clone of every other person they meet, I certainly don’t. I think the heart of fashion is personality, I believe you dress to reflect your personality, what feels comfy to you, what feels right on you. Fashion is an individual thing, no two people will wear a garment the same.
The future of retail is sustainability. I truly believe people are becoming more environmentally conscious, mostly in terms of clothing. Young people I am surrounded by are far more likely to buy second hand, not only because of its environmental benefits but because of the look of the garments. We are really lucky that vintage clothing has become the newest trend, this encourages people to buy second hand.
Style from my point of view means whatever you feel like a goddess in! As I said earlier I believe that fashion is such a personal thing, we all have such different tastes. I grew up in a creative school, where we were taught to except everybody no matter what they looked like, including what they wear. So to me whatever you feel great in is amazing!
