An Artful Life
House Of Gharats is a design house creating conscious luxury for artful dressing and living. The old and new play off one another in perfect harmony. There is an undeniable appreciation for tradition and the antiquated, but also so much creative progression – and a love for beauty.
Founders
Neishaa & Pretam Gharat, founders of House of Gharats, endeavour to bring together various cultures, redefine cultural relationships, and create new style synergies through art and fashion. Living amidst London’s international hybrid city of cultures and its influential past results in objects that are profoundly modern, distinctively stylish, yet inherently classic.
Culture Of Craft
We are passionate about heritage arts and crafts, engaging with the makers and the process. Therefore our designs draw on the essence of tradition, cultural juxtapositions, stories, materials and function. In addition, heritage crafts, unconventional materials, sculptural tailoring, bold colours, fanciful details and artful prints speak our story. Our commitment is to make responsibly through sustainable practices.
“The influence of our native country, which can be felt through our collections, is grounded in tradition and timeless eccentricities, yet fearlessly modern.”
– NEISHAA GHARAT
“There is no beauty in the finest cloth if it makes hunger and unhappiness.”
– MAHATMA GANDHI
Loved and Enduring
The objects that we choose to surround ourselves with, tend to be those with the strongest and deepest connections to our past, present, and future. In addition, they may embody fond memories or represent special people, but cherished things also reveal what we value—beauty, utility, knowledge, craft—and when assembled can function as a portrait in time.
Design
Design is one of the most powerful forces in our lives.
It is a superpower and with it, we can change the world.
Therefore, we believe that social and environmental issues go hand in hand and through exploring the connection between these issues we may find innovative design solutions to sustainability.

The future of fashion is
The future of fashion is originality, sustainability and technologically advancing. I think we have reached the point where we need to address the environment in all products including fashion. Awareness will grow for the consumers and more fashion brands will switch to using eco-friendly methods of production.
The future of retail is
Having worked in retail for over 6 years now, I can see the unfortunate decline of physical shopping and the increase and ease of online shopping. Personal connection to a brand is very important. Being able to provide exceptional, personal service in store that can’t be replicated online.
Style from my point of view means
Style is permanent, fashion is temporary. Creating products with style is something which is valued forever whereas fashionable products come and go as trends pass.

The future of fashion is producing designs that are inspired by art, or even the smallest things in life which we may think might not matter, for example an emotion could be translated into fashion. Also making people in all different body shapes feel welcome to their brand, with more models on the runway who may be plus size.
The future of retail is e-commerce, but also I think that we should bring back buying in person, because It’s a part of our history, and the value of this should not disappear and we should appreciate it.
Style from my point of view, means bringing out our emotions, characteristics and experiences and laying them on our physical appearance, an appearance we create and let others see of us.
Kind regards,
Amber

The future of fashion is where sustainability is put at the forefront of peoples minds and designers create impactful pieces.
The future of retail is a world in which people invest in their purchases as long term staples instead of fuelling the fast fashion industry.
Style from my point of view means having the confidence to display your inner personality, it’s like having a set of armour that shows your true self and gives you a boost in confidence.
Milda Martinkeviciute
The future of fashion is adopting eco-friendly methods of production to become more sustainable.
The future of retail is online. Media is becoming “the store”, as merchants can display more products, provide more accurate product information, and customers can transact in just a few clicks.
Style from my point of view means more than just the clothes I wear. It is personality manifested through little details and carefully picked pieces that I feel comfortable in.
Nirali Pindoria
The future of fashion is consciousness about using sustainable products and moving away from fast fashion. Heritage and tradition are responsible for passing on something positive for future generations.
The future of retail is online. Creating a stronger brand image through social media and brand campaigns is important in the crowded online scene.
Style from my point of view means never holding back. Being free, vibrant, and fabulous.

The future of fashion is about revolution, the revolution which driven by sustainable and eco-friendly concept. Sooner or later, all party involved in the fashion industry have to come to awareness of the importance of sustainability. After that, the word ‘fashion’ will be redefined.
The future of retail is online. We are at the end of the beginning of e-commerce. In the future, the majority of consumption will be online. Therefore, good platform, reliable system, fast and secure shipping methods will be essential.
Style from my point of view is self-awareness, is to enhance one’s personality, to express one’s attitude, confidently, or reservedly.

The future of fashion is for us to decide, our generation will have to create ideas with the thought of also being sustainable and eco-friendly.
The future of retail is online and accessible for everyone, and is also the need for sustainability, and it’s in need of change with the packaging we use, or the waste of each person throwing away clothes, even the processes of making the clothes.
Style from my point of view means it’s individuality, everybody has a different idea of what’s pretty, and I don’t think people should follow the norm.
Freya Gann
The future of fashion is… sustainability, focusing on the earth’s resources, regarding renewables, recycling and conservation of water and energy with the additional factors of communities, concentrating on living wages, humane working conditions and cultural connections. It is also slow, which means the quality and durability of textiles is becoming more of an important production factor.
The future of retail is…challenging the over dominance of global giants by presenting ethically sourced, well designed garments in an interesting and exciting way in order for customers’ needs and satisfactions to be met while supporting the future of the world.
Style from my point of view means…the combination of colour harmony and different colourways (to give the customer a certain level of choice with the support of my expertise), motif application and variation (to enable the outcomes to be intriguing and unique) and the size and scale of the designs (in order for them to be well considered and effective when applied to the different mediums).

The future of fashion is sustainable and technological.
The future of retail will see complete integration of technologies like augmented and virtual reality, the internet of things, sensor-driven packaging and connected appliances. This will result in an exponential impact on e-commerce volumes.
Style from my point of view is the physical reflection of emotion.
Margherita Giottoli
The future of fashion is… As Alexa Chung once said “Everyone’s going to buy less and think more”,I can’t predict the future of fashion because until now it always has been linked to the aesthetic end in itself. Fashion is something globally shared and for this reason I would like that it be used to send messages related to social problems. Anyway, brands are becoming less interested in seasonality than making heirloom pieces.
The future of retail is… AR-shopping. Augmented Reality is already a thing! With an interactive mirror in a fitting room, you can try on tons of items just in five minutes. I believe the AR trend will move to home as well. Imagine you find a dress online and virtually try it on. You’ll know that it will suit for sure!
Style from my point of view means… From my point of view style is a concept of wide application. In fashion, style tells something about our personality, tells how we are made, how we think and much more. In a competitive market, people try to bind themselves to those brands that are closer to their way of being; I reiterate that it is very important that fashion houses share ethical values and social messages in such a way that people can be understood.
Alessia Taullaj
The Future of fashion is…Design awarenesses, sustainability and technology.
The future of retail is… in the niche industry.
Style from my point of view means…Bravery, Curiosity and Self confidence.

The future of fashion is ethical. We must address to everyone and all body types.
The future of retail is in media and communication, a brand have to live these days and evolve with consumers, by using app or social media. It can’t just be a website.
Style from my point of view means a way for being comfortable with ourselves and showing our personality.
Stephanie Alexander
The future of fashion is CIRCULAR.
“I believe the planet needs us to buy less, but I don’t think people should have to sacrifice the joy of expression and individuality fashion brings us. The future of fashion looks like this: buying good, long lasting basics or second hand and renting new trends or styles if and when you need.”
– Georgie Hyatt, Co-Founder, Rotaro
As someone who didn’t see the appeal in disposable fashion, shopped second hand and sustainably before it was a trend, I wish I could make everyone share my mindset. Fashion shouldn’t be looked upon negatively for ruining the planet, it shouldn’t be a cheap dress that is only wearable once. Fashion should be well-crafted pieces that can be passed down through generations, a garment that carries many stories with it after being worn and well-looked after for 30 years.
The future of retail is (hopefully) SAFE.
As the wave of online shopping grows, I understand the convivence and appeal of quickly purchasing items online and home delivery. However, I can not believe that the need for physical shopping will ever disappear. I hope I speak for many individuals, creative or not, when I say that shopping is an experience like no other. From the changing of seasons, to visual merchandising, to the social aspect, shopping is a huge part of many lives and it would break many hearts if this was to change.
Style from my point of view is EXPRESSION.
Fashion trends move so quickly today, and style is the one thing that stays permanent and personal. There is something fascinating about giving 10 people the same coat and watching each of them put their own twist on it. Style is unique to each individual and will always be an important part of fashion.
